Desk Organizers

Project details

This student work explored the design and fabrication (through laser cutting, 3D printing, and small scale shop tools) of a desk organizer.  Each student designed the work for themselves and was meant to last for the duration of their time within the Interior Architecture and Product Design Program at Kansas State.

In developing the work the students, second year undergraduates, interviewed fifth and third year students in the program to get a feel for their activities as they would progress.  The intention being not only to education the students about the design process and making but also to create an object that they can critically evaluate over time.  Generating a dialogue that can continue well beyond the term in which the project was developed.
