Within my career(s) I’ve had the privilege to work in both academia and practice. The work in both spaces has been characterized by explorations in the relationship between computational design and its coordination with making and/or manufacturing, paying specific attention to materials, their limitations and mechanics, and information coordination for production. I began my career with work in architectural academia, writing, building, and teaching – developing my trajectory into a professional product designer. I then transitioned into architectural product development and manufacturing.
Within my professional career I have acted as a product designer, project manager, a team leader and facilitator, a computational designer, code researcher, and supported professional interior designers in the development of their spaces. I enjoy collaborating with teams and individuals to create products, and supporting infrastructures, to enable the A+D community to create installations that are simultaneously in tune with the designers’ vision, timeline, and budget. I am constantly engaged in expanding my knowledge and understanding of build systems and their codes, software platforms and their augmentation through computational design, and making processes through manual or CAD/CAM instrumentation.
I am always seeking to continue this journey of exploration into the relationships between the machine and the making as well as help develop and contribute to the intellectual community with Industrial, Architectural, and Product Design spaces.
