Arduino Micro-Controlled Lighting

Project details

In this second year product design studio my students developed environmentally reactive lighting fixtures using Intel Galileo Micro-controllers and Arduino. The work explored the integration of environmental issues in the development of both the design and a functioning prototype. I assisted the students in writing code to control their various designs which engaged motion, acoustic, light and touch sensors and enabled the students to develop basic electrical wiring skills as well introduced them to digital fabrication technologies including CNC milling, laser cutting and 3D printing.

contribution

Trained the students on basic Arduino programming and ran the fabrication equipment for 3D printing, based on the modeling done by the students. For the balance, I trained the students on the laser cutter use. Wood working was supported by the other Industrial Design professor instruction in other courses.
