Materials Research

Project details

Much of my manufacturing work relies on my material testing with various technologies.  This includes laser cutting (large and small formats), 3D printing, CNC milling, etc.  Depending on the function of the project, I almost always engage in material research at the onset to ensure the technologies that I am designing around will perform when the time comes for final fabrication.  Including here are some of the experiments that I’ve done with acrylic, cardboard, MDF, etc.  None of these are finished projects on their own, but the embody the collection of knowledge that is relevant to develop finished constructions.  This also embodies research in digital tools via scripting, parametric definitions in grasshopper, 3D scanning, etc.  We must learn to explore with the tools in order to better know how to engage them.

This is really my passion.
